How you care for your gold jewelry will determine how long it remains shiny and luxurious. Gold is a soft metal that scratches easily. It should be handled with the utmost care to retain that “new” look for a long time. Here are some tips for cleaning and storing your gold jewelry.
- Remove gold jewelry before bathing, swimming, and cleaning. The harsh chemicals can dull the finish.
- Use a combination of mild dish soap and water to clean your gold pieces. Soak them for a few minutes and rinse. Only soak one piece at a time to avoid scratching.
- Buff gold jewelry with a soft chamois cloth to bring back the shiny finish.
- Store gold jewelry in a cloth lined box. If more than one piece is stored in the box, wrap each piece in tissue paper to prevent scratching.
